Let’s dip into more fun with caramel as Deea shows us how she makes these delicious apples!

Caramel apples are fun & super easy to make with a few helpful hints. I always use the Peter’s Caramel Loaf. It is thick, buttery, smooth, creamy perfection! I highly recommend it!

This is what you will need:

25 medium-sized apples (I prefer Granny Smith)

1 Peter’s Caramel (5 lb. loaf)

2 lbs. good quality melting chocolate

2 lbs. white chocolate or candy coating

Toppings of your choice: peanuts, cashews, crushed oreos, crusted Butterfingers, mini M & M’s, sprinkles, cinnamon and sugar, etc.

Wood apple skewers

Directions:

Wash and scrub apples with warm water and a bit of mild soap, then rinse and dry very well. This is to remove the wax so that the caramel will stick to the apples. Insert the skewers into the core of the apple. Refrigerate apples for at least an hour. This will help the caramel set up quickly on the apples when you dip them instead of sliding down your apples & making a puddle at the bottom.

There’s a few ways to melt caramel, but I prefer to use the microwave. Gygi prefers to use the oven. Cut off about 1/4 of the caramel loaf and melt it in a microwave safe bowl or ion a saucepan on the stove. I use a 4 cup glass measuring cup in the microwave. Melt on a low setting, stirring very often until melted. Melt additional caramel as needed.

Dip apples in the caramel, slowing turning them. I like my apples completely covered in caramel. After completely submerging, hold apple stick at a 90 degree angle from the bowl & allow apple to drip over bowl while turning for a few seconds to remove excess caramel. Place on parchment lined cookie sheet. Allow to set up for an hour or more. Apples can be refrigerated after dipping in caramel to speed up the process.

Melt the chocolate, tempering if necessary. I prefer compound chocolate that doesn’t need tempering. Follow same process as caramel dipping & dip caramel apples into milk chocolate or white chocolate. Immediately & quickly roll chocolate dipped caramel apple into your topping choice.

Let set. Then you are good to go! What will you come up with?
