Valentine Fortune Cookies

Fortune, fortune. Who’s got a fortune?

With Valentine parties popping up each day, and trying to find a fun, easy, and yummy gift to surprise your special valentine–a favorite gift of ours came to mind.

Fortune cookies are one of our favorite edible gifts for many holidays but for Valentine’s Day they just seem so perfect. Why not send a good fortune to those you love? And who wouldn’t love a hot pink fortune cookie?

Here’s what you will need:

1/2 Cup Strawberry Apeels
12 Fortune Cookies
Assorted Sprinkles
Plastic Berry Containers
Paper Doily
Red/Pink Twine

Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Set microwave on half power, and heat for 1 minute. Stir chocolate, and place back into microwave, still on half power, and heating 20 seconds at a time until melted.

Place a piece of parchment on a cookie sheet or tray.

Grab one side of the fortune cookie and dip 1/2 way into the melted chocolate. Carefully shake off excess over bowl and place on parchment paper.

While still slightly wet, grab your favorite sprinkles and lightly (or as heavy) as you would like sprinkle away…

We used the multi-colored hearts, and non-pareils–just a few of our favorites.

Using a little bit of melted white chocolate we took a fork and drizzled across the dried pink fortune cookies.

Allow them to rest on the cookie sheet until chocolate has hardened. 10 minutes is usually pretty safe.

While your cookies are drying, let’s get the packaging ready. Using a 6″ paper doily line the bottom and sides of the berry container. Be sure to press firmly.

After the cookies have fully dried it’s time to stack.

Arrange however you choose. Note: We got about 10 inside the cartons and left a couple out to sample.

That’s it. Pretty simple, huh? Less than 20 minutes and you have a super-easy and yummy Valentine treat.

Wrap with some colored twine, attach the fortune cookie Valentine’s tag and send to those you love!
