Cedar Plank Shrimp

Cooking on a wood plank is so simple and imparts a subtle flavor from the wood. It’s an often overlooked grilling technique that is worth giving a try. This grilled cedar plank shrimp recipe from the Gygi Grilling Gala is a great place to start.

What you’ll need

20-25 extra large shrimp (peeled & deveined)

2 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves of garlic (minced)

Pinch of salt

1 Cedar plank

Fresh flat leaf parsley (minced)

Lemon (cut into wedges)

Soak the cedar plank in water for 1-4 hours prior to cooking.

In a small bowl combine the butter, olive oil, garlic, and salt and stir well to combine. Place the shrimp into a large bowl and pour the butter mixture over the top. Stir well to combine. Ensure all the shrimp are all coated. Place the shrimp onto the cedar plank. Make sure the shrimp are not overlapping one another. If there is any extra butter in the bottom of the bowl use a pastry brush to coat the shrimp with extra butter.

Place the plank over a 400 degree grill and close the lid. Allow the shrimp to cook 4-5 minutes then check. When the shrimp are no longer translucent and pink all the way through they are finished cooking. It may be necessary to turn the shrimp a couple times to make sure the shrimp is cooked evenly. Some shrimp may cook more quickly than others so check them every couple minutes.

Remove the shrimp from the grill and dish onto a serving platter. Garnish with a sprinkle of minced parsley and fresh lemon wedges.Cedar Plank Shrimp
