If not, you should! July is National Ice Cream Month and this is the machine you should be using to make it: Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker.
This is one of my most favorite products! (I realize that I say that with every product that I feature… but it’s true!) I don’t know about your household, but mine loves homemade ice cream. And it couldn’t be easier with the Ice Cream Maker by Cuisinart.
Of course, homemade ice cream is always delicious no matter which machine you use. But this one makes the whole process a lot easier. I’ve used both this ice cream maker and the ones that require rock salt. So have a few other people that I know, and this is what we think:
Why You Should Be Using the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker:
- Frozen desserts are finished in 30 minutes or less!
- You can turn the machine on, add the ingredients and walk away. You don’t have to sit and babysit this machine, like you do with the others that require rock salt.
- Same quality ice cream each time: Thickness is consistent.
- It runs very quiet in comparison to other ice cream makers.
- Clean up is easy! You don’t have to deal with any salty water.
- So easy to use: No adjusting rock salt and ice chunks to get the ice cream to set up.
- So great for small parties.
- Half the price! Much more affordable than other ice cream makers.
Disadvantages:
- You have to have room in your freezer. This machine requires that the freezer bowl be frozen for 24 hours to start with in order to get the ice cream to thicken.
- Storing left over ice cream could be easier: Unlike the rock salt ice cream makers, you can’t store left over ice cream in the same container it was made in. You have to store the ice cream in another air-tight, freezer-friendly container.
- It doesn’t make as much as the machines that require rock salt. It only makes 2 quarts in comparison to other ice cream makers that produce 4-6 quarts of ice cream.
- If you want to serve a large group of people, you may need to purchase a separate freezer bowl. (But even so, it’s still cheaper than a rock salt machine).
In my opinion, the pros of this machine far outweigh the cons. And it can make more than just ice cream. Try making frozen yogurt or sorbet in it as well. So now, you have to decide. Which ice cream maker do you prefer?

And here’s a delightful recipe to try: My husband and I had this at a BBQ with some friends a few weeks ago and I can’t stop thinking about it! So, many thanks to Deric & Natalie for sharing!
