Pie Fruit Filling

There’s nothing sweeter than a peach pie during prime peach season. Using fruit when it is ripe and ready is a delight as you really don’t need much to make the pie sing. If you’ve found yourself with some fresh fruit (or you can use frozen) and you want to whip it up into a pie.

may we suggest this ratio to create the perfect fruit filling:

  • 1¼ cup granulated sugar (varies based on sweetness)
  • 6 cups fresh fruit (sliced or diced)
  • ½ cup flour (to thicken) (+/- depending on juiciness)
  • 1 tbsp citrus juice + zest
  • 1 tsp kosher salt

Mix all the ingredients together, allow the filling to sit for 10-20 minutes, then place in a pie crust.

Use your recipes guidelines for baking temperature and time.

This filling can also be delicious in a prebaked pie crust, or using a graham cracker crust for a no-heat version!
