This year we feel like we have to preserve those eggs. They are precious and our prized possessions at the moment because there’s a higher price point. So no wonder we want to do eggs the right way. Come join us as we explore the vast world of eggs and making the most of every egg.

Eggs have been a long-time kitchen staple. Whether you’re scrambling, boiling, frying, or poaching, cooking eggs the right way ensures you get the absolute best flavor, texture, and satisfaction. If we are cooking with eggs, we want to make sure every egg counts.

In the coming weeks, we’ll take a deep dive into several different ways to cook your eggs—because there’s so much more to do than a simple scramble! But before we get into recipes and techniques, let’s take a minute to talk about setting up your kitchen for egg-cooking success with the right tools.

Why Eggs?

Eggs are so freaking popular! They’re both nutritious and versatile—an ingredient that works in everything from breakfast to dinner to baking and beyond. They’re packed with protein, healthy fats, and essential vitamins. And when eggs get a little pricey (and you don’t have your own coop out back), you want to make sure you are stretching that carton a little further and cooking them perfectly each time.

The Right Tools for the Job

So, how do you get the best results with each and every last egg? It starts with outfitting your kitchen with the right tools. A simple mistake, like using the wrong pan and overcooking your eggs, can ruin your meal and waste such valuable ingredients. So here are some of the things we suggest you  have in your kitchen for “egg-cellent” results every time!

1. Nonstick Frying Pan – Perfect for frying, scrambling, or even making omelets without your eggs sticking. Nonstick pans are a lifesaver for easy cleanup too.

2. Egg Timer – Some people use a song, some people use their phone, but we prefer a more traditional option. If you love perfectly boiled eggs, an egg timer will help you get the precise consistency you’re after, from soft to hard-boiled.

3. Whisk – A good wire whisk is essential for mixing eggs before scrambling or incorporating them into batters. It helps create a smooth, fluffy texture.

4. Slotted Spoon – This seems like an underrated kitchen tool, but it is your go-to for perfectly poaching eggs, as it allows you to gently lift your egg out of the water without damaging the delicate whites. Three cheers for slotted spoons!

5. Egg Slicer – Want your hard-boiled eggs in perfect slices for salads or sandwiches? An egg slicer will do the trick every time. And it isn’t just for eggs. You can use it for perfectly sliced strawberries, mushrooms, and more.

6. Spatula – For scrambling or flipping eggs in the pan, a flexible slotted spatula helps you get under your eggs without tearing them up. Look for one with a super-thin edge that can handle high heat. You won’t be cooking your eggs over high heat, but the spatula will hold up longer.
